What MICYA is working towards.
A permanent community building in Merrylands. This page sets out the direction. It does not go further than what has been confirmed.
Where things stand
MICYA is a registered charity. There is no building yet, no programs running under its own roof, and no approvals in place. This is an early-stage project, and the detail of what comes next depends on approvals nobody has yet.
Why a permanent building
The organisation currently depends on space it borrows or rents. That space is controlled by whoever owns it, and any arrangement can end. A building MICYA owns would let it plan further ahead than it can now.
Serving both age groups.
A shared building can end up being used by one group most of the time, with everyone else visiting.
MICYA’s intention is to avoid that: space that suits younger people and space that suits older people, available at the same time.
That is harder to plan than a building for one age group.
إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا
Verily, the believers are like bricks of a building, each part strengthening the other.
What this page does not cover.
This page does not describe rooms, name activities or state approvals, because none of those have been settled. In New South Wales, how a building may be used is decided by the planning system rather than by the owner.
So there is a direction here and no floor plan. When there is a plan, and the consents that go with it, they will appear on Progress with dates attached.
